Ronnie Craig, RN

I am a registered nurse licensed in Texas and a practicing hospice nurse in the Houston area. I publish Houston Care Compass.

How to check my license

Texas RN license #966665. You do not have to take my word for it: the Texas Board of Nursing publishes a public license verification lookup, and the number above is what you enter there.

Texas Board of Nursing — license verification

A byline that cannot be checked is decoration. That is why the number is on this page rather than a claim to be a nurse.

Why this site exists

Medicare grades every nursing home citation with a letter, A through L. That letter carries the two facts that matter most — how serious the failure was, and how many residents it touched — and Medicare publishes it with no explanation attached. A family reading "scope/severity K" has no way to know they are looking at CMS's finding of immediate jeopardy.

I read these records for a living. Most directories show a star rating and stop. This one decodes the inspection record instead. What the A–L codes mean.

How this site is paid for

By flat-fee advertising, and only that. Families are never charged. No one pays for a lead, a click, or a move-in — there is no field in this site's data for any of those, which is the control that makes the promise real rather than stated.

Advertising never changes the order of anything. Rankings are built from government data before any advertising status is read, and the build fails rather than produce a page where that is not true. A facility's CMS ratings, citations and fines cannot be edited by anyone, including a facility paying to advertise.

What this site will not do

It does not recommend a nursing home to anyone, and it will not tell you which one to choose. It is a publisher of government records, not an advisor. Nothing here is medical advice — talk to your parent's physician about their situation.

The hospice question, stated plainly

I work as a hospice nurse while publishing a site that carries advertising. That is a real conflict to manage, not one to wave away, so hospice and home health advertising is not sold here at all while I practice — the whole category is closed, which means the hospice I work for cannot advertise here either. I would rather give up that revenue than have anyone wonder whether my day job shaped what this site shows them.

CMS data on this page is from the June 2026 release.
