Houston Care Compass

Home Assisted Living

Assisted living in the south Houston corridor

Assisted living facilities provide housing, meals and help with daily activities for people who do not need 24-hour skilled nursing. Texas licenses them as Type A or Type B.

100 state-licensed assisted living facilities. 86 hold a Type B licence, meaning they may accept residents who cannot evacuate the building without help. 38 are certified by Texas for Alzheimer's and dementia care, and 68 are small homes of sixteen beds or fewer. Licence data as of July 2026.

Texas does not publish assisted living inspection findings, star ratings or fine histories the way Medicare does for nursing homes. Everything on this page comes from the state licence record. An empty inspection section is not a clean inspection record — it means the state publishes no record either way. A public records request for assisted living inspection findings is outstanding; when it is answered, this page will carry it.

Listed alphabetically. Texas publishes no star rating or inspection score for assisted living, so there is nothing here to rank by and this order is not a recommendation. Advertising status is not a ranking factor and no facility on this page pays for its position.
